It's ok No Nonsense A pleasant read, but not nearly as satisfying as Cleeves' Shetland series. The plot is straightforward, standard cozy fare. Ramsay is described, but not given life. The two other main characters (who are more clearly drawn than Ramsay) are traditional 'nosy parkers' of the cozy genre. Worth $2.99, but not more.. felt like a first novel that was unpublished MARILYN not up to her usual tight plot line. i was disappointed. i think that hte publisher asked her for one of her first attempts. something for the fans who are waiting for her next book.. Ok for an early work/ first novel; Ramsey is not well developed After reading other Ann Cleeves novels I had expected more from this novel. However it was first published in 1990 so you can understand how much improvement there has been since the promise of this early work.Inspector Ramsay is almost a ghost in this work; he is not well developed and I don't have much sympathy or empathy for the character. Perhaps 's Cleeves develops him more fully in later works in the series.I am not sure I recommend this book; however, if other books in this series are better then and one wants to read those or one wants t
