Since I have not worked as an actuary for an insurance company before, the book would guide you through the difference types of actuaries, different daily work style, etc. I would say that the 2 editions are fairly similar. The 2nd edition has some updates since there was a major syllabus change in 2007.. pHiL said Expecting more. The book is a compilation of responses from surveys given to actuaries about their experience in the profession.
