DESCRIPTION:
"A really wonderful, easy to understand breakdown of the zone system for beginning photographers."-Ruth Adams, University of Kentucky
Beware buying this "fourth edition" Beware buying this "fourth edition" it is not. It is advertised as being the fourth, but it is the first. This is what I purchased "This fourth edition of Beyond the Zone System makes the science of photographic sensitometry both accessible and useful to interested photographers.". "Five Stars" according to Amazon Customer. I'm very happy!. A great integration for Ansel Adams Zone System You can learn something more about sensitometry and Zone System. A great book. It takes care of the entire process, from metering (not only with spotmeter, but even with incident meter) to the sensitometry of paper and film considering the processes as the result of just one theory, which considers that film density range has to fit paper density range. It goes deeply inside sensitometry principles. Really good.
He has written two other books and has exhibited his photographs in numerous institutional and privatecollections. Phil Davis is a retired professor and professional photographer. * Almost 200 illustrations and graphs depicting important concepts * Appendix contains numerous important formulae * Instructions for specialized developing tubes * Directions for creating a unique spot meter unit, an inexpensive substitute for an expensive densitometer This book demonstrates a uniquely economical, efficient and accurate testing procedure based on sensitometric principles. It shows how test data can be used in several exposure development control systems. This book goes beyond trial and error and provides a thorough explanation of photographic material characteristics. He lives in Whitmore Lake, MI.
