In typical Gemmell fashion Sparta Fan This is another hit for Gemmell. I had to put the series away for a few months after reading several in succession; the formula got old after awhile. Hero was the first one when I came back and it did not disappoint. Waylander is one of my favorite characters in fantasy: Salvatore's Drizzt and Wulfgar (a favorite tragic hero of mine) along with Gemmell's others like Skilgannon, Khan, Druss, etc.I rated it a four because it just wasn't quite as good as Legend and a couple others. Still, it's fast paced and well written. Waylander is a good char. "D.G. is the absolute BEST!" according to Kindle Customer. David Gemmell is the best heroic fantasy fiction writer ever bar none!
