Nice book, but not for the beginner! Jenna I bought this because I was interested in learning how to style my hair in a retro style. I had already purchased Vintage Hairstyling: Retro Styles with Step-by-Step Techniques and found it EXTREMELY helpful. I was looking for this to piggyback on the first book and perhaps give me more pictures of the various styles. The book itself is physically pretty with a fabric hardcover and full color images. I like how each hairstyle is introduced with pictures of the "silver screen" stars that made the style famous, as well as a picture of a modern celebrity who utilizes the style.Her. From everyday fabulous to showstopping glam I adore this book. I have been figuring out my own methods for retro hair for so long now, because so many books and websites make the process so complicated that I could never style my hair to their specifications in a decent amount of time. I saw this book and I knew I had to get it. The directions are straight forward, and wonderfully illustrated. The tools required for most of the looks are things that most people with hair already keep around the house. A couple of styles do require something like a bonnet dryer or pincurl clips, which I suppose less people keep on hand, . Mildly Disappointed Mel I was all excited until I read it. There is only the more popular styles in this book with somewhat easy to follow instructions. They make it sound so easy in all of the if you have an extra set of hands. Most the styles I already knew how to do thanks to YouTube so I guess that added to the bummer factor a bit too. Will keep it around though in the event my kids wonder what language I am speaking ;)
