Pro-Am Photographer/Videographer - The book is well written- Easy to understand- Covers most of the issues concerning videography with a DSLR as well as other Cameras- Pricey, but if you want quality work, this is a great reference book- Probably goes into a lot more detail than the average person wants, but true film makers are highly detailed people- This book is definitely NOT for the person who just want to shoot home videos of the family- I believe this book is better suited for someone who actually plans to make serious videos/films or who plans to make money such as with weddings, corporate clients, parties, ect.Note: I have m. "Should be called Cannon DSLR Filmmaker's Handbook" according to Patrick Freeman. The text is extensive, deep and thorough, with the exception that, in most areas, it really only addresses the Cannon DSLR.I'm not going to agree with others that this is nothing but a Cannon ad but I'm not a Cannon owner so there was a lot that didn't do me any good at all.Examples would be user controls for color set-up, white balance, assigning file names, etc, actually all of the menu controls . All of that information provided in the book was strictly with regard to Cannon DSLR.Also, it's extremely technical and dry. It's like trying to read a text book for person enjoyment. There really is more . "Much too advanced for my needs." according to Woodshop Man. I gave it a Much too advanced for my needs. I gave it a 3 star just to be fair.I really ordered the wrong book. My fault.I have a Canon 7D with a Rhode's microphone and many, many years of 35mm experience.I've got many years experience with BETA and VHS cameras/pro format equipment.But squat in using a DSLR as a video camera.This book is about how to do sophisticated films, and what you need to do and equipment you need to accomplish that.I just want to know how to use my 7D to do everyday filming.My mistake.I returned it.. star just to be fair.I really ordered the wrong book.
