Because it is unfinished. I did not like the ending. There was no resolution. Klkfrog said A Unique Story. This story was different than I expected. I don't know that it is appropriate for 6 and 7 year olds. I would definitely put this in the 9-10 year range for reading. I felt like there was no resolution to the main character's dilemma. I understand that it leads into the next book in the series, but didn't see anywhere that this was going to be a series of books. I liked the concept of the story. My son didn't like it because it was about mermaids. My daughter loved it for the same reason.
