These are not necessarily the most famous photos (there are many books published with those), but for one reason or another these are photos that shaped both the art of photography and human thought. This collection is wonderful and sometimes will bring tears to your eyes. I highly recommend giving this as a gift to your photographer friends and relatives.. Excellent collection -- although title over-reaches a bit Almost all of these photographs appeared in LIFE, at least there is a strong tendency toward that source. By that standard the title is a bit over-reaching.But, with millions and millions of images to choose from, this collection is certainly worth-while -- as a coffee table book, as a gift, or possibly to keep and refer back to from time to time.Quality of images, paper, binding and editing is excellent, and I enjoyed visiting
