This was recommended by a friend Pattie I gave up on Danielle Steel a few years ago all novels had the same pitch, and it became not enjoyable to read her, after, reading many many of her books This was recommended by a friend, who could not put it down That's what I like to hear about a book I was totally into it as well, and will try Ms Steel another time.. She showed us the love of a mother/daughter relationship I would give it a hundred stars, if possible! I think Ms Steel out did herself in the writing of this book. She showed us the love of a mother/daughter relationship, husband/wife, woman/country, and all of this in the first half of the book. This we did a complete turn and she was pursuing a career in medicine while she was risking her life in the battlegrounds in Europe. There are no words to describe the emotional roller coaster she took us on from there. Truly, this ranks close to the top of her list with me. A book I could hardly put down until I finished it.. The Best Ever! Marcia Wegmann I loved this book so much I did not want it to end; it was VERY interesting from beginning to end with many twists and turns that were woven into the plot. One of this author's must reads, I think!

After her father and brother die in the sinking of the Titanic, Annabelle and her mother go into mourning, and Annabelle marries the kindly older banker Josiah Millbank. Alone in Paris, she draws on her experience volunteering at Ellis Island to pursue a career as a doctor as WWI looms. Steel's fans will eat this up—Annabelle is one of the better protagonists Steel's conjured recently. Steel toys with the premise of a modern woman, though the characterization of Annabelle as a good woman who has been dragged through the mud somewhat mitigates her strength and elemental stubbornness. All rights reserved. When Annabelle refuses to divorce him, Josiah files for it on the basis of adultery, forcing Annabelle, now the victim of vicious rumors, to flee New York. . After two years of unconsummated marriage, he reveals that he's
