"This book is IT." according to nancynjerry. I don't think all of the art classes in the world could have done me more good than this book with regard to my painting. I have listened to more blah, blah, blah from so-called teachers than I care to admit, but this woman can actually teach!From the very opening, this book delivered the goods that it promised. In fact, from the author's introduction I got an idea that was worth the price of the book many times. It was an idea about painting that had been brewing in my mind, but that I was unable to find th. Beautiful Book!!!!! This is a beautiful book with great illustration! At the back of the book she has included line drawings and tells at what enlargement to copy for your paintings. It is very step by step and will most certainly help you succeed in your paintings. I have never worked with oils, but I am going to be taking a beginning oil class. I will then be able to understand and put this book and its techniques to use. I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend this book to others. I would not call it . "A Gift to Us Artists Who Want to Amp-up Our Color" according to Amazon Customer. This book would be worth the price if all you did was look at the gorgeous paintings and their beautiful colors. But the artist/writer of course does more. She explains her methods in detail, then provides 10 detailed demonstrations, specifying the pigments she used for each and also providing narrative on her color thinking.To me, color is the adult sport in art.
