I have yet to get into the adapter rings and lens mounts, etc. required for true macro photography (1:1 on the sensor). Now, I have a direction and know what I have to do in order to photograph the compound eyes of a fly.. Macro Liked the pictures and he wasn't stingy with nice pictures that inspired. And they helped to illustrate good composition, color and textures with respect to macro photography. I wondered what a whole book would have to say on macro photography--it's more than just snapping a closeup photo and he gets into more the artistic realm and adds some dimension with the use of filters and things in Photoshop. Nicely written. It was more than just a techy book.. A good introductory book on close-up and macro photograpphy This is a well thought-out book that is a good introduction to close-up and macro photography. It is not as detailed as Harnischmacher's recent book, but it is eminently readable and has a lot of good ideas. I not only enjoyed reading it, but learned some things I did not know as well.

This book is both a practical guide to each step of the close-up process, as well as a source of inspirational ideas and subjects for producing high-impact images. Through the close-up lens, everyday objects produce striking images, and small creatures show amazing detail that usually goes unnoticed. High magnification photography is immensely exciting and rewarding
