What a wonderful book is this particular Reader's Digest edition! If I find 20% of any such gathering of options excellent and another handful of items agreeable I am satisfied for the purchase. In this case, the pleasing proportions far exceed those parameters. I particularly like the double approach to the bass line (traditional linear below and chord symbols above), as the former is more conducive to experimental self expression.The drawings and short descriptive pieces preceding each work is well done. . Karl Bielefeldt said Simplified just enough. I usually hate simplified versions of music, because they usually go too far and hollow out the sound. This book strikes the perfect balance, making the songs playable by an amateur pianist like me, without it sounding simplified. My mother had this when I was learning as a child, and I recently bought it again for myself. I was surprised at how quickly I could pick it back up. They are not obscure tunes, either. Most all of them are easily recognizable by anyone with a modicum of classical music knowledge.
Some of the music is original for the instrument while others are arranged. Many of the arrangements are easy, although a few are fairly difficult.. Technically, this collection has something for everyone. This is a wonderful collection of great music arranged for piano and organ. There is music from Bach to Richard Rodgers
