He is beyond fair to all and resists pay back or attack, providing measured criticism of others and unflinching self critique of his younger self. What a story, what a time. I missed the Clean first time around, saw the Great Unwashed at the Kumara S. Brilliant read that was personal and historic I am the same age as the author and could relate to everything he wrote. Yes I am a Flying Nun fan but I also enjoyed the way the culture of New Zealand music was described when Flying Nun started. Pretty much how I remember things were back in the late 70s and 80s. In middle age you do begin to say 'do you remember' just like your Parents did but that's not a bad thing. Great read and I highly recommend.. in Christchurch or Dunedin in the eighties you will love this book Paul J If you lived in Christchurch or Dunedin in the eighties you will love this book, whether you are a Flying Nun fan or not. Fans might wish for a more detailed account of the music itself, but this is exactly what it says on the cover- a love letter to a very special time in New Zealand musical history, and how one man grew up in the middle of it. Recommended.
