DESCRIPTION:
"Covers a lot and still a lot of work but worth it" according to DrewNY001. Don't think that the fact it is in the Dummies series this book will be a breeze - no it is still hard work. However, if you are a guitar player you might find Music Theory by Hal Leonard more appropriate and more practicable, and more likely to be actually used by you or a student. If you are serious, as a guitar player I would get both because with Hal Leonard you will be doing more "doing" and with this book more " formal education". This book uses the piano keys to explain while the other the guitar fingerboar. Adam said Surprisingly well written. Surprisingly well written for a "dummies" book. Even after half a lifetime of music experience, this book covered things I didn't know, things that were never taught in any lessons, classes, or groups.. "Exactly what I was looking for, I play songs "by ear" but completely ignorant to music theory." according to Bernardo Cardenas. For someone with a knowledge in music this perhaps isn't the book for you since it covers the very basics. For someone that knows a few songs in piano or guitar but knows nothing about music theory, this is a great place to start, if you like this then you can decide of you want to get deeper into this subject with more advance books.
