A mixed bag of Stories Robbie Nagy I liked the book; the idea is different and original, and a guy who doesn't remember their 'first' car with at least a little story about it (good or bad) is probably someone I would not be interested in getting to know any better. But the people picked to be interviewed for this book is kind of uneven mix; more than a few I never even heard so I have no interest in what their 1st car was. Others had such a uninteresting story or the telling of it was so 'disjointed' and rambling I wonder why it was not edited out of the final copy? I know all the st. Nick Russell said Great stories, bad editing. This book is filled with great stories about great old cars, and I could relate to many of them. It too me back to the streets of Toledo, Ohio and my own first car, a worn out old 1961 Chevy that I paid $75 for and loved for the freedom it gave a teenage boy. I could relate to the stories of rusted out floorboards, of washing its long-faded paint after every ride, and "Great stories, bad editing" according to Nick Russell. This book is filled with great stories about great old cars, and I could relate to many of them. It too me back to the streets of Toledo, Ohio and my own first car, a worn out old 1961 Chevy that I paid $75 for and loved for the freedom it gave a teenage boy. I could relate to the stories of rusted out floorboards, of washing its long-faded paint after every ride, and 25 cent a gallon gasoline. Oh, how I wish I could go back and relive those days! And how I wish I had some of those old cars back again, and what they'd be worth in today's market! My on. 5 cent a gallon gasoline. Oh, how I wish I could go back and relive those days! And how I wish I had some of those old cars back again, and what they'd be worth in today's market! My on. "Another Great Idea Poorly Executed" according to Lamont Cranston. I had high hopes for this book. Maybe I expected too much from a book of car stories written by a professional automotive journalist; like interesting, well written stories filled with properly spelled words. Instead most of these first car reflections are boring, the writing is flat and colorless, and there are so many typos I would be embarrassed to be listed as the author or editor. It is a great concept that could have been so much better executed. I am asking my family and friends about their first cars and getting some great stories.

My First Car captures those wonderful moments of automotive initiation as they were lived by such luminaries as Jay Leno, Mario Andretti, Patrick Dempsey, Danica Patrick, Sir Stirling Moss, Gregg Allman, and more. Whether it was new, a hand-me-down, or a junker, it was freedom on four wheels, independence, responsibility, and something that would always hold a special place in your heart. Well, you're not alone. Everyone has a story about that first car. For anyone who ever slid behind the wheel and tooled down the road for the first time, this wonder
