Gary Patella said What book did everyone else read with these reviews?. This book is pretty terrible with the layout, and nothing showing how to pronounce the words. But the biggest flaw is that it does NOT cover the basics. I went to Portugal, and using this book I did know how to say "good morning", "thank you", "no thank you", and the numbers. OK. So those basics are covered. But what's the other extremely basic question that pretty much EVERY other book for any language has? Obviously, "Where is the bathroom?" Unfortunately, this book does not include this phr. "Portuguese for a Beginner!!" according to Dr. Taffy Wagner. I was surprised to learn the following: 1) It only had 2Portuguese for a Beginner!! I was surprised to learn the following: 1) It only had 23 letters, 2) It is a romance language and 3) It is similar to Spanish. I actually felt quite good with the latter because I have been learning Spanish over the last few months. It was nice to see some words that I recognize. When it came to how to pronounce certain words and she was talking about nasaly, that was a shocker. I'm not familiar with Portuguese language so I felt this was a step by step instruction that I can follow. The auth. letters, 2) It is a romance language and Portuguese for a Beginner!!
