All rights reserved. Lorelei King does her usual superlative job for the Evanovich oeuvre, adding juice and dimension to each wacky character. She deftly handles everyone, from bail bond receptionist Connie's classic New Jersey accent and outrageous sidekick Lula's brash outbursts to Ranger's smooth purr (it's amazing how he, as voiced by King, can make the word babe mean so many different things). Martin's Press hardcover (reviewed online). Klutzy bounty hunter Stephanie Plum teams up with mysterious Diesel and the monkey left on her doorstep to track down a nerdy genius and his sinister business partner in the depths of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. King enhances the humor of this series, so much so that Evanovich fans should consider putting down that book and plugging in the CD player instead. (Jan.)Copyright © Reed Business Information, a
The Hungry Reader said Not Her Best. Definitely not as good as the numbered series, but still a fair read. I prefer Morelli & Ranger, but do wish she'd ____ or get off the pot with her choice between them! Lots of action in this one, but the first 'Diessel' one I've read, and felt I was missing something regarding the 'magic' at which the story hinted. ? Will read the 1st to see if it's better, and choose to move on or not after that. (I got this for Halloween, but the title, like all/most of her titles did not apply.). Cute Paige Law I've been reading the Plum series on and off for years, recommended to me by my mom. She's a but more versatile in her genres than I am. (And she's a lot less snobby about it. I can admit I am a bit of a book snob, and romances are usually not my first pick.)But the Plum series by Janet Evanovich is funny and easy to read. This particular book was no exception. The plot moves fast, it kept me interested the whole way through. It isn't fantastic literature, it wont make you cry or think about your life from a new perspective. But if . CLO said Funny!. I love Janet Evanovich books, which is why I read this book. She doesn't disappoint with this one. It's funny and entertaining. I just love Carl, the monkey. I woke my husband up, while reading in bed, laughing.
Evanovich fans rejoice! Stephanie Plum is back in town, along with her sidekick Lula, her Grandma Mazur, and an ever-widening cast of freaks, criminals, deranged felons, and lunatics looking for love. And just when Stephanie thinks her life can’t get any more complicated, in walks the mysterious Diesel. A man who seems to show up at the most inconvenient moments. This time, he’s the instigator for Stephanie’s new adventure, which involves camping in the Pine Barrens with Lula, and perhaps even a sighting of the Jersey Devil…so hang on for a Stephanie Plum novel that is sure to send chills up your spine—it gives new meaning to the words hilarious, and “spooky.”
