As the plot slowly moves upward, you must also work your way horizontally through each line before you can go up to the next. My irritant with the series is that the characters keep asking others questions that the reply is along the lines of if they answer the question you will only get into trouble or things will get worse or you don't need to know. Every time the answer should be told, the person only figures it out anyhow and/or would have saved a lot of trouble in the first place. It gets very old by the second book. But, the writing and world setting was very good, and I feel for the main characters plight.
