Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Lost World" is about contemporary with this one, written in the WWI period. It precedes the spate of 50s Dinosaur Island movies (such as the 1957 "The Land Unknown"), and of course, "Jurassic Park" by a number of decades. But, instead of the pulp-hero Professor Challenger and his associates, the dinos and cavemen are confronted by survivors of a torpedoed Allied ship, and of the German U-boat that sank t. Hidden gem in a sea of classics Don't forget that the free version is not the entire trilogy. The next two are "The People That Time Forgot" and "Out of Time's Abyss" (both also free). Wonderful book and beautifully written. I've seen alot of complaints about typos in the free versions but I didn't notice any. Burroughs is great at engaging the reader throughout the entire book. There was enough description to engulf you into the story but not so much that you got bored. Great and quick read.. Another excellent narration by David Stifel N. H. The Land That Time Forgot is a classic by Edgar Rice Burroughs (better known for his Tarzan series). I was familiar with it only through the 1975 movie (it's so bad it is a joy to watch). I recently had the opportunity to listen to the audio book narrated by David Stifel. I had previously heard a book narrated by him which is why I chose this particular version.
