The first time I was very disappointed by the book. However, after my second reading I changed my opinion. What I had been expecting from the book was more of a story about the violins being restored, more of the technical aspect I would say. The story is really much more about the original owner of the instrument and how it got to the point of being restored. To me, the musical part seemed rather overshadowed by the Holocaust part.
