A Great Resource A Composer's Guide by Winifred Philips, known for her work with the games, God of War, Little Big Planet II, and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, is a wonderful book that manages to detail a lot of what a video game composer does without being to be general or being too technical. The guide itself is structured in a very readable way, beginning with Philips being inspired by a Tomb Ra. Not just for game composers Tom Davis I have been a composer and educator for nearly 40 years and am constantly looking for new perspectives on creativity. After signing up for an on-line course in video game music I picked up Winifred's book to set the stage before the course began. I have to say that the her book is extremely well-organized, unveiling new vocabulary and concepts in logical order while citing ample resear. Mr. Bond said Bought it; read it; lurve it!. Winifred has written an excellent book that outlines several concepts necessary to utilize in order to succeed as a modern game composer. The introductory tone of the book is analytical and scientific (which I genuinely appreciate) and it outlines in meticulous detail an overview of what to expect from the craft; as well as what may be expected of the song writer.This book is applicabl
