A Must Read for Anyone Who Loves Houses Gentleman Jim Incredible photos of long gone and sadly lost mansions in Chicago. Hard to imagine that such grand houses once existed in this City. Loved every page of this book and anyone who appreciates grand mansions and the Gilded Age era will revel in this fine book. Most poignant is the . Great look at early Chicago Mansions. Great photos of many of the mansions that were demolished in the name progress. I would have liked to have a little more detail on each mansion, but there was good information on the original owner and the architects who designed them.. "The Tip of the Top" according to Evangeline. I would wish for more inside photos and floor plans- these books need a volume 2! Chicago continues to have real treasures on those streets!
