Those sweet old emperors I only made it in about an hour. Had to give it up. The adapter or editor chooses and presents stories that she feels will provide good moral lessons for her children. All ancient Chinese emperors were wise, peace-loving egalitarians. Right. Each little story is followed by the editor's comments, consisting partly in otiose summary of the simple tale just told, and partly in pious reflection on goodness. Goodness me.
