The clarity of the author's writing is superb, and his illustrations excellent (pun intended). However, it should be remembered that drawing and illustration are quintessentially kinesthetic. The techniques cannot really be understood, let alone mastered, without actually putting pen or p. "comprehensive and illustrative" according to AY. I love this book! The drawings really help explain the text. The technical aspects of different drawing techniques are explained and there are many illustrations. I have not yet looked at the CD but the book itself is worth the price. Everything has a hand-drawn look and is helpful for a student like myself that is learning drafting. I bought the book because I was especially inter. "Drafting book for Design Students" according to Sara. While Ching does cover some aspects of drawing outside of those needed for drafting, the primary focus is on architectural drafting. This is a technical book intended for design students.
