Some had ensconced themselves in deep underground bunkers or remained holed up in fortified strongholds, but history would tell that most had been swallowed up by the dead - never to be heard from again. In the three weeks since mounting a brash rescue mission to a zombie-infested Los Angeles and returning home to find lives of loved ones hanging in the balance, Cade has occupied himself with runs outside the wire to procure supplies necessary to ride out what the Farmer's Almanac predicts will be a long, cold winter. As Cade and his team seize an unforeseen opportunity provided by the plummeting temperatures, he quickly realizes they are in a race against time - and nature's fickle whims. Since that last normal Saturday in July, the Omega virus has indiscriminately delivered destruction and death to all four points of the compass - the latter having recently been visited upon former Delta Force soldier Cade Grayson and the small group of civilian survivors making their home in the subterranean compound near Eden, Utah. "Best one yet" according to JohnnyC. Still shaking minutes after read Frayed, well Shawn that was something else. The descriptive commentary just blow me away, why did Cade put that wrapper into his pocket, to keep the area clean? No, but why, the next time Cade finished an energy bar he put that one in his pocket too. What's going on, surly he's not that OCD?As it turns out he was keeping them for Tan, who wants them to put on new plants to scare the birds away.So to be so descriptive about something that simple you can imagine what the action description was like. This is IMHO the best book so far, we have waited a long time for this book, but well worth the wai. In my “retirement” after Contributed Little to the Series In my “retirement” after 30 years as a field artilleryman with 13 years overseas including a combat tour in Vietnam followed by 13 years as a high school history teacher, I have become addicted to apocalyptic novels. The first novel in this series, “Trudge,” so totally hooked me on the series that I bought the remainder of the volumes. However, I found “Frayed,” book nine in the series, to be off the mark. There was lots of action “killing” zombies, but I failed to see how it contributed to the series. At best, it was a side story.I have a few comments:- A grandfather clock woul. 0 years as a field artilleryman with 1Contributed Little to the Series In my “retirement” after 30 years as a field artilleryman with 13 years overseas including a combat tour in Vietnam followed by 13 years as a high school history teacher, I have become addicted to apocalyptic novels.
