This book is one that every free thinking person should read. It's packed with relevant information regarding many biblical events and most certainly puts the life of Jesus in the fictional category. I personally found it difficult to put down.. "Excellent!" according to Joseph Humber. No religion is strong until it has been questioned. (The opening quote from my biology professor in a college evolution course.) If you are a true believer, these are the arguments and facts you'll have to face. If you're an agnostic like I am, then it's a fascinating read about the foundations of Christianity. Occasionally he extrapolates from the facts when he speculates what someone would or wouldn't do, but he's never on thin ice. It's very well-researched and definitely worth your time.
