Very well written, seems to be very truthful--you still rock Mr. Gregg Allman-God Bless you--even more:0 k.w.k. This book really grabbed a hold of and kept my attention. I received the book on a Friday afternoon. I finished to book by Saturday morning! I did not stay up all night reading this either----it just really was fascinating. Gregg Allman realizes how incredibly blessed he is to be alive, and has found a way to not live in regret-yet take full (I think) responsibility for both his great achievements and his sometimes knee-jerk type decision making that were/are apart of his personality. Not to give too much away. Douglas P. Murphy said Fascinating. This book is blisteringly honest and that gives the events depicted a more dramatic and emotional impact. Greg Allman certainly has expereinced the highs and lows from those that everyone knows about to those that are completely obscure. Some of the stories are quite humorous such as Greg and Duane's attempts to avoid the draft for Vietnam. These and other stories like them made me laugh quite heartily. The passion for music certainly comes through and the dedication that drove this group to superstardom. The . Audie Award Nominee, Biography and Memoir, 2013As one of the greatest rock icons of all time, Gregg Allman has lived it all and then some. Setting the record straight about the band's struggles in the face of death, Gregg shows how the decision to persevere came with a heavy price. Now, he tells the unflinching story of his life, laying bare the unvarnished truth about his wild ride that has spanned across the years. Bringing to life the carefree early days of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg holds nothing back - from run-ins with the law to meeting girls on the road, from jamming at the Fillmore East to experimenting with drugs. Along the way, he goes behind the scenes of some of greatest rock music ever recorded, without shying away from the infamous and painful deaths of his brother, Duane, and Allman Brothers bassist Berry Oakley. While the rock-and-roll excesses of drugs, alcohol, and personality clashes led to a series of breakups that culminated with the band's permanent reunion in 1989, Gregg fought his own battle with substance abuse, going to rehab no less than 11 times and floating through a string of failed marriages, including his tabloid-frenzied relationship with Cher, before finally cleaning up once and for all. For almost 50 years, he's been creating some of the most recognizable songs in American rock, but never before has h
