Now organized into briefer, more manageable topics, and featuring additional applications and mathematical guidance, the new edition helps students learn more effectively, while allowing instructors to teach the way they want.. Edition after edition, Atkins and de Paula's #1 bestseller remains the most contemporary, most effective full-length textbook for courses covering thermodynamics in the first semester and quantum mechanics in the second semester. Its molecular view of physical chemistry, contemporary applications, student friendly pedagogy, and strong problem-solving emphasis make it particularly well-suited for pre-meds, engineers, physics, and chemistry students

Kristopher Keyes said Unhelpful.. I have been taking physical chemistry this semester with this textbook, and it is no help at all. It breezes over the most important concepts and focuses too much time on concepts that aren't as important. By "important", I mean concepts that need to be understood in order to solve the exercises and problems in the book. For example, it only partially explains the different thermodynamic processes, and ex. Ugh. This wasn't good. If you are forced to buy this book because it's required:1.The book arrived in perfect condition.2. May the force be with youIf you are buying this book by choice:1. Don't.2. The layout of the book is VERY confusing- The nomenclature and how the chapters are broken down doesn't make sense. The sections and subsections are not like a normal textbook so what you're looking for is often hard to find.3. The b
