Jenniferlll said My favorite book of all time!. I only got around to reading Sherlock Holmes this year, despite it being a classic must-read. I only really knew Holmes by the campy movies, with his silly hat, tweed coat and magnifying glass. It wasn't until the movies starring Robert Downey Jr came out that I began to gain interest. I watched the first film, and was surprised by how engaging it was. Then the second came out, and became one of my favorite movies. I started looking for new things involving Sherlock Holmes, and I reali. It is elementary my dear reader that Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in all of world literature! C. The creator of the Holmes canon is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) who gave up his medical practice for professional writing. Doyle wrote fifty-six Holmes short stories and four Holmes novels.
