Amazon Customer said Nice Collection and A Good Value. So, I purchased this book for my eight year old daughter. She finds that she's actually a bit old for the bookbut I'm certainly not! Maybe she'll come back to it again some day. We did enjoy reading the stories, especially Dr. DeSoto. Surprisingly, Shrek, which I hadn't read before, was the least interesting of the collection, with the least to say. Since, of all his works, Shrek was the one chosen to base a film around, I was a little let down by this. (not that the movie was all that pro. Franz Metcalf said Charming Stories in Print or on CD. I've never read a William Steig book I didn't like. This very large and thick book collects six lovely stories and represents a fantastic bargain in children's books.Note: If you're looking into the audio version, with Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci, it is marvelous. We have both the book and the CD and we love them. As I say, Steig doesn't disappoint, neither do Streep and Tucci (and if you know their work in film, you know the standard that sets is very high).
