DESCRIPTION:
Alas, Agatha's perfect product is soon exposed - as not only store-bought but poisoned. The contest judge succumbs after eating it, and with him go Agatha's reputation and her chances of rural bliss - unless she can expose the poisoner.. After years of bullying and cajoling others as a high-flying public relations boss, Agatha Raisin's early retirement to the picture-postcard village of Carsley in the Cotswolds is a dream come true. And how better to begin making herself a local leading light than by entering the village quiche-making competition? Unburdened by old-fashioned ideas of fair play, the ruthless Agatha decides to ensure she wins by buying her entry from a London delicatessen
I'm an Agatha Raisin Fan!!! DeniseRodgers I didn't like this book to startbut I'd seen so many good review of this series that I thought I'd give it a chance. Beaton's Agatha isn't exactly likable from the start. She's bossy and insensitive. She also seems unrealistic. The premise of the book is that she (Agatha) has taken an early retirement to settle in Carsley in the famous English Cottswold countryside. She has no friends or contacts in or near Carsley, or in London, for that matter. She is widowed, but not much is made of her husband and she doesn't seem to mi. She's as good as ever. ASilly Sally M.C.Beaton has come up with a winner in Agatha Raisin. I have been a fan for many years. Gosh, what can I say about an no-nonsense, stalwart, clever, 50 something, ex-PR exec? Hm-m-m, I think I just did. Agatha is quite a character. In this book, she has just sold her thriving business in London in favor of a more quiet life in the Cotswolds - not eactly a good transition for a woman used to being on the fast track. Oh well, she tries to make the best of it: trying to fit in to the community and all. She even enters a bakin. Tons of Extreme Typos Grandma Geek I am currently reading this book on my Kindle. (I am about 1/3 of the way through the book.) This Kindle version has many, many typos and some of them are absurd. For instance, this book's main character is Agatha Raisin. In at least three places, she is called Angela. I just read a paragraph where another of the characters was called by yet another of the character's names. There are also many less obvious typos like "teh" for "the", or "at at."The name mixups are distracting. I like the story, but the "translation" is rid
