Very slow paced story H Pratt If you take out all the extra dry explanations this book would shave been so much better. The story is excellent but as reader I wanted to skip all the unnecessary fill that made it drag along I'm glad I finished itGreenery does much better with his books on the campus and Jack Ryan Jr.. Long read Tim Shepperson This was too long, which is like most of his books. I had trouble following at times. There seemed to be to much description. Over all it was a good read.

But now with the help of ex-CIA agent John Clark and protégé Marine Colonel Ding Chavez the Campus is in on the hunt. Jack Ryan, the former president of the United States, is out of office, but not out of the loop about his brainchild, the “Campus” a highly effective, counter-terrorism organization that operates outside the Washington hierarchy. While a highly effective analyst, young Ryan hungers for the action of a field agent. The Campus has now turned their sights on the Emir, the number one terrorist threat to western civilization. But what Ryan doesn’t know is that his son, Jack Ryan, Jr., has joined his cousins, Brian and Dominic Caruso, at the shadowy Campus. A reclusive figure and mastermind of vicious terrorist acts, the Emir has eluded capture by the world’s law enforcement agencies. The mission: to bring the Emir in dead or alive.

While the senior Ryan is sitting at home quietly penning his memoirs, the real action is taking place at "The Campus," the independent secret intelligence agency he set up when he was commander in chief. Uppermost in the sights of The Campus is the deadly Emir (read Osama bin Laden), who has set in motion a new round of attacks. After stumbling with The Teeth of the Tiger (2003), bestseller Clancy is back at the top of his game, aided by Blackwood (An Echo of War), with this update on the Jack Ryan story, both father and son. Jack Ryan Jr., who works for The Campus as a researcher, has, unbeknownst to his father, begun involving himself in field operations. In-depth research, continuous suspense, and scores of fascinating characters prove again why Clancy, the man who virtually invented this genre, reigns supreme in the crowded thriller field.
