Hypnotic, unsettling images Catriona Lovett The pictures in this collection vary in complexity. Like the others in the artist/author's Fractal Flame series, they all are abstract. But unlike his other works these aren't very colorful.They aren't the kind of art that appeals to me usually. But there's something in them that drew me in, nonetheless. The lack of bright, pretty colors that I prefer has given these images an unexpected impact.Some look like smoke, some like paint or oil stirred in water. There are a couple that remind me of soap bubbles encrusting a tub of rust-tinged water, or like something organic and alien growing on old paper. I found contemplation of them disturbi.
