DESCRIPTION:
Steve teaches us 4 ways to hold the sticks and backs it up with solid teaching and a performance DVD. Each grip is thoroughly explored in its basic motions on the snare drum, and then translated to drumset applications and phrases. I can t wait to dig into the book and DVD, and can recommend this to any drummer who is serious about his or her chops. Many opt for lick building, when in reality, hands that move properly can take your playing to the next level and beyond. Ergonomic drum setup, Moeller motions, and other topics are also covered, accompanied by plenty of exciting solo playing from Steve. The accompanying DVD contains matching videos for all the lessons included in the text. Each lesson is clearly numbered and titled, making it easy to work with text, notation and video together as you study these con
Not only is this a great resource for who play Trevor Thwaites Who would have thought Steve Smith could come up with yet another idea for drummers to learn from. Not only is this a great resource for who play, or wish to develop, matched grip playing, it also includes so marvellous applications of rudiments around the kit. A great text supported by a generous DVD.. Get a grip I am very glad I got this book as a beginner drummer. You can learn and practice the most ergonomic and relaxed techniques for holding the sticks and apply them to the drum set with ease and fluidity. Although difficult at first, once you get the hang of the grips, it becomes second nature. I think this is an invaluable addition to drum technique instruction literature.. R. Scott said Recommended. Highly recommended if you are interested in developing and refining your matched grip technique. The video shows good views of the basic stick motions. The book and video are well organized so that it's easy to find the different sections. The exercises are challenging but fun!
