Why do I have to go back 50, 100 years to find books that not only are fast-paced and plot-heavy but also lyrical and thought provoking? I knew the story as I have seen the Hitchcock film a few times but I still enjoyed reading the book as some things were different. The pacing is well done. Suspenseful. I don't think there was one character who didn't irritate me in varying degrees, but Guy and Bruno were very interesting people you love to hate. We had a good discu. Different from movie and certainly worth reading A solid crime novel. I noticed many differences from the Alfred Hitchcock movie. This story is much darker than that tale and well, Guy is not the nice, innocent victim so much in this one. Both characters are believable. I must say that I liked Bruno less than in the movie.
