Carol said Renewed Appreciation for Gaiman. In "American Gods" Gaiman has, once again, done his research and created an attention holding book with plenty of action, humor and darkness. Showing gods of the "old world" as near mortals that feed on prayer and sacrifice to survive in our new technology driven culture is an ingenious take on religious evolution. Gaiman has a knack for taking a idea that would inundate most writers with its vastness and narrowing . Andrew Volozhanin said Slow to start, but a gripping story.. At first, it seems that there're too many unconnected story lines and characters, but everything becomes connected in the end.Shadow and Wednesday relationship evolved over time via chunks of dialog or small scenes.The side characters vary in their quality and most of the new gods were a lot more intriguing and interesting than the old ones. Some of the side stories (e.g. taxi driver) were unnecessary and quite bori. Solidly written story. I had never read any of his books until this one. It was recommended to me somewhere as a "if you've read that, then you might like this" suggestion. I think the book is fairly well written and like that it gives you an epilogue. (Possible Spoiler): I'm not fond of stories that have unrealistic and "fantastical" scenarios and plot turns in them and this book does. What I'm meaning to say is that storylines that have
