I downloaded this book with Amazon unlimited thinking I would read it one of many flights. For some reason I didn't open it for a few weeks until yesterday. I spent Sunday reading and enjoying the book and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the book. The book follows the often seen (young hero, unique history, unique power, denial, acceptance, success) formula but is unique. The young hero is smarter than most, makes human. Great read I really enjoyed this book. After I finished it naturally I went to the author's blog to find out if the next one was coming out sooner than indicated at the back of the book. I think I'm a little too early to hope. But I did appreciate the extra at the end.I liked the main character. The book was a decently long read for me (I read fast!), well paced and it actually felt fleshed out. Vatar is just becoming a man in the eye

That would be more like the magic passed down in certain, closely-guarded bloodlines among the ruling class of the coastal cities
